Water Quality test results

Jack & Dave were out in the cold, wind and rain (just whining, we don’t mind) on Oct 3 …

10-3-2019 water..JPG

Recent conditions: Minimal rain, minimal boat traffic, minimal outflow over dam.

Observations:

  • Temperature dropping, as expected

  • Clarity improving

  • pH within normal range (note: 8/22 anomaly noted on chart)

This may be our last observation of the season with the draw-down coming up.

Water Quality test results

Jack & Dave ventured out on the first cold Fall morning …

Lake was calm, air and water getting cool/colder. Not much recent rain. Low boat traffic this week.Water clarity continues to improve into Fall. pH remains in range.

We saw a sharp drop in water temperature … time to plan dock out :)

Water clarity is increasing a little, beginning to get back to what we saw in the spring.

pH dropped sharply compared with our last outing. We found that we had a device malfunction … we should ignore the 8-22 reading as an outlier due to device error. We now have replaced the bad sensor, and also have a backup device to double check. pH is now well within bounds and is no longer of concern.

8-22-2019 Observation

Jack Sweeney and Dave Brown went out to measure quality on the 22nd. As we do every two weeks we took measurements near the sandbar, by the boat club/beach and at the dam. Details are available; we may post a sample in an upcoming entry.

Clarity improved considerably since our last measurement on 8/8. pH is very high which is a concern we will be looking into. We expect pH to go down (less alkaline) as the season progresses.
